Fix CAR Client Connection Error
Resolve “Unexpected connection close while receiving RSA key”
Why does this happen?
This error appears on the CAR Client machine when the CAR Server App is not running on the server. After a server restart, the CAR Server App may not start automatically, which blocks client connections.

Important — install on the server, not the client.
CARServerAutoStart_Setup.exe must be installed on the server machine where CAR Server App runs.
Do not install it on the CAR Client machine. The client only shows the error; the fix is applied on the server.
The error you may see on the client
On the CAR Client PC, WFC may show: “Unexpected connection close while receiving RSA key.”
Server machine only
Download CAR Server Auto Start
On the server machine, click the button below to download the installer.
This utility ensures CAR Server App starts automatically whenever the server restarts.

Download CARServerAutoStart_Setup.exe
After downloading, open the file and follow the installation steps below.
Installation steps (on the server machine)

Open the downloaded installer
In your browser’s Downloads list, click Open file on CARServerAutoStart_Setup.exe.

Confirm the install location
On the Select Destination Location screen, leave the default path (
C:\CAR\server\CARServerAutoStart) and click Next.

Click Install
On the Ready to Install screen, review the destination and click Install to begin.

Click Finish
When setup completes, click Finish to close the installer.
Done! CAR Server App will now start automatically when the server restarts.
Return to the CAR Client machine and try connecting again — the RSA key error should be resolved once the server app is running.
